NIKE: HYPE VIDEO

I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the creative team at Hovercraft
on a high-energy series of hype videos for Nike Cross Nationals, one of the most
prestigious high school cross-country events in the country.

Hovercraft provided the bold, athletic visual designs, and I handled all aspects of motion design and video editing.
From dynamic typography and punchy transitions to pacing that matches the intensity of the sport, every frame
was crafted to elevate the excitement and emotion surrounding the event. It was an electrifying project that
brought together design, movement, and storytelling to capture the spirit of elite competition.

THE ASK

Nike needed a series of hype videos to energize athletes and fans at Nike Cross Nationals.

The challenge was to capture the intensity and emotion of cross-country racing while staying true to
Nike’s bold, athletic brand identity. My role was to bring Hovercraft’s designs into motion,
delivering edits and animations with dynamic typography, punchy transitions,
and pacing that amplified the excitement of the event.

BEHIND THE SCENES


Before landing on the final video edit, there was a lot of motion exploration that happened behind the scenes.
Each iteration was a chance to test how far the visuals could stretch without losing clarity. Part of the fun was pushing the motion - experimenting with timing and layering - until the animation felt alive.

The real challenge came with the text-heavy format. Instead of letting the typography sit flat, I treated it
as a design element in motion: giving words rhythm, guiding the eye with movement, and creating moments of pause to let key ideas land.
It became less about “placing text on screen” and more about choreographing a flow that keeps viewers engaged from start to finish.

That exploration phase was essential -not just in solving the problem of how to present dense information,
but in transforming it into something dynamic, digestible, and visually compelling.
