TRIMET: HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
I had the privilege of animating this piece for TriMet, Portland’s public transit system.
I created this animation as part of a larger campaign designed by David Dacosta
to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and honor Latin American culture.
THE ASK
To create a motion piece to complement a vibrant bus wrap activation and
extend the campaign's spirit across digital platforms.
David’s illustrations brought the cultural richness to life, and my role was to translate that energy into motion. Through animated storytelling, I highlighted themes of identity, pride, and community, ensuring the bus wrap carried the same vibrancy in motion as it did in its illustrated form.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Here’s a look into some of the process behind this piece. To achieve the more
complex movements, I built a system of null controllers and parenting.
This setup let me manage multiple layers through a single control point, which not only streamlined
the animation but also made it easy to adjust timing, spacing, or scale without having to rework every layer individually.
By centralizing control in this way, iteration became much faster—I could experiment with different motions, refine transitions, and test variations without breaking the rig. The result was a workflow that balanced technical efficiency with creative flexibility, allowing me to focus on the overall feel of the piece rather than getting bogged down in layer-by-layer edits.
